In 1983, the First Presbyterian Church of Wilkinsburg, founded in 1866, merged with the Edgewood Presbyterian Church, founded in 1891, to form the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. The church was located at the corner of Wallace Avenue and Wood Street. Previously, in 1960, the First Presbyterian Church of Wilkinsburg and the Hamilton Avenue United Presbyterian Church merged. The Hamilton Avenue United Presbyterian Church was established in 1903 as the Second Italian Presbyterian Church.
