This congregation was established as the New Brighton Methodist Protestant Mission in 1842. The present edifice was dedicated in 1863. The name of the congregation was changed in 1938 to the Fifth Avenue Methodist Church. It merged in 2007 with the two other Methodist congregations in New Brighton, First United Methodist and Grace United Methodist Church, to form the New Brighton Methodist Church. The congregation currently (2026) worships at 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton.
