On May 30, 1874, a meeting was held in the Public School House for the purposes of organizing an Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Irwin, PA. On July 12, 1874, the constitution was read and adopted. Services were first held in the School Hall, and in a Baptist Church for some time. In the spring of 1876, Trinity Church Adamsburg and Irwin were united and constituted a parish. In the summer of 1876, the two Lutheran congregations of Irwin, the English and the Swedish decided to build a church.
