Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church was formed in 1890 by Reverend Orlando S. Oglesby . The City Mission Society and Reverend Oglesby agreed upon a site for the future church at the corner of Orchard Place and Georgia Avenue in the Knoxville area of Pittsburgh. The original church built on the site was razed in August 1954. The new church was dedicated on September 11, 1955. The church closed in May of 1999 and was sold to St. Paul AME Church in 2000.
