Genealogy Day 2025

Join WPGS and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to meet genealogy societies and libraries from Western Pennsylvania for help with your research and information about their collections. Workshops will help beginners and experts alike with speakers discussing a variety of research topics. This program is free and open to all.

  • 12:30 pm “Resources for Italian Family Research” with Marilyn Holt
  • 1:45 pm “Collecting Family Stories: DIY Oral History Basics” with Emily Kubincanek
  • 3:00 pm “What’s a Prothonotary? Pennsylvania Courthouse Records” with Elissa Scalise Powell, CG

New exhibitors for 2025 include the Weir Genealogy Room at the Butler Public Library and the Baltzer Meyer Historical Society, based in Greensburg. Returning exhibitors include the Detre Library & Archives at the Heinz History Center, Davis * Camp, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh, North Hills Genealogists, Pittsburgh Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Westmoreland County Historical Society. 

A limited number of Brick Wall Sessions will be available. These sessions offer help finding ancestors, not living relatives. Sign up for these sessions starting Jan. 23, 2025, on Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Events page for Genealogy Day.
