John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church

John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was formed by the merger of Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church and the First German Methodist Episcopal Church in 1935. The name was changed to Hill Top United Methodist Church in 1970 following the merger with Arlington Avenue Evangelical United Brethren Church.

TIMELINE:
1836—First German Methodist Episcopal Church, Birmingham, formed
1873—Allentown Methodist Episcopal Church formed
1877—Allentown Methodist Episcopal Church name changed to South Street Methodist Episcopal Church
1885—Arlington Avenue Evangelical United Brethren Church formed
1892—South Street Methodist Episcopal Church moved to the present location, became Washington Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. Washington Avenue later became today’s Warrington Avenue
1925—Washington Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church name changed to Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church
1935—Trinity M.E. became John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church with the merger of the First German Methodist Episcopal Church
1970—John Wesley M.E. named Hill Top United Methodist Church with the merger of the Arlington Avenue Evangelical United Brethren Church
1991—Becks Run United Methodist Church merged with Hill Top United Methodist Church
