The First Congregational Church of Tarentum was founded in 1873 as the German Evangelical Protestant Church, patterned after the Protestant State Church of Prussia. In 1925, the group merged with the Congregational Church. The first edifice was erected at 501 East Eighth Avenue and Porter Street in Tarentum. A new edifice was erected at First Avenue and Allegheny Street in 1901.
